Press Release Marketing

It has been a while since I issued any press releases. Usually I get halfway through writing one and forget about it long before the idea of distribution even comes to mind.

But the other day I said dammit, I'm writing and distributing a press release today. (I don't know where the idea came from as is usually the case)

So I wrote up a quick 250 or so word press release, and since I wasn't about to pay the $20 for profesional distribution over at PRWeb I searched around for some free press release sites online.

• i-Newswire
• Click Press
• Press Release Circulation

After creating an account I submitted the releases there and to a couple of relevant media outlets directly and forgot about the whole thing.

24 hours later the press release at Press Release Point is ranked 6th in Google for my search term. My site is sitting at 13th place.

The links from that press release should help my site in the long term. But it is amazing to think that within 24 hours any site could out rank me without even trying, even if it was something I wrote promoting my own site.

Hell, I could write 250 word press releases all day. Beats 450 word, thought out articles for marketing anytime.

Now I just have to find a few more free distribution sites or maybe suck it up and use PRWeb like a profesional.
